If you’ve been reading the latest car magazines and auto magazines, you’ll know that there’s plenty to get excited about in 2023 when it comes to cars, as there are so many hotly anticipated new models coming in Australia.

As we move towards more sustainable living, the electric car (EV) market is heating up, and there are a number of EVs arriving into Australia with many brands expanding their offerings.

If you’re not quite there with the EVs and still prefer an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle, there are a few new models launching that will rev your engine, too.

Plus, there are plenty of SUVs to keep the family buyers happy, and some revamped old favourites.

If you are keen to keep on top of what new cars are coming to Australia in 2023, read on. Take a look at the best new cars coming to Australia and everything that is expected to launch here in 2023.

Alfa Romeo Baby e-SUV

Alfa Romeo’s new small electric SUV could come to market as soon as 2023. The Alfa Romeo SUV should attract customers with its striking looks and the promise of reliability from the proven powertrain.

Audi A6 e-tron

This electric version of the A6 will look distinct from the rest of Audi’s executive car line-up. Expect a 100kW battery and a range of 552km on a single charge, and thanks to the 800-volt architecture, it’ll be able to charge from 5-80 per cent in 25 minutes.

BMW 5 Series

The next BMW 5 Series has been spotted during testing, and is likely to be available with mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains. It is expected to use an updated version of the current car’s platform. The plug-in hybrid 530e model is likely to receive an upgrade, with newer battery technology to give an increased electric range.

Kia EV4

Kia is expanding its EV range fast and the new EV4 will join the range in 2023. This is a family SUV and it will use tech from the already-revealed EV6 model. It could share some styling similarities too, because it will be based on the same E-GMP platform.

Kia Niro

There’s a new version of the Kia Niro small family SUV on the way, and it should be available with hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric power, just like the current model. Expect to see improved electric tech, though, including quicker rapid charging and a much longer battery range.

Mercedes-Benz CLE

The CLE will use Mercedes’ MRA-2 platform, which means it’s likely that four- and six-cylinder engines, and rear-wheel drive, will be available, with four-wheel drive as an option.

MINI Countryman

A new version of the MINI Countryman is coming in 2023 and it will likely grow in size in the pursuit of more interior space. The new car will be available with petrol and diesel engines, as well as the option of all-electric power.

MINI Hatch Electric

The next-gen MINI hatchback is scheduled to go on sale in 2023, and the choice of powertrains is likely to include pure-electric and ICE-powered.

SsangYong X200

SUV specialist SsangYong is launching this rugged-looking X200 in 2023. Concept sketches show the car to be a tough-looking off-roader. Chunky wheel arches, knobbly tyres and surfboards on the roof all show that SsangYong wants the model to step away from its more sober designs.

Volvo XC20

A new model will join the Volvo range in 2023 and it will be a small electric SUV. The XC20 (this name might change) will resemble the XC40 because it will likely use a similar set of parts in its construction, although it’ll be detuned and more affordable.
